Dear Mr. Sharp,
Thank you for reviewing the documentary about me by Jon Knoll. We were pleases that you liked it. In regards to your question about why I did not call police or try to stop people from crashing. That was the whole point people could not stop. I was standing next to a state trooper the entire time I was shooting we were trying to not get struck by the out of control cars. It took 20 min to close the highway down after people started to crash. They had to close off many entrances and ramps it was a labor intensive time consuming project to shut down the Eisenhower near the post office.

Hi,
My name is Jon Knoll. I directed a documentary you or someone at your site reviewed called Late Breaking News.

Only just recently did I see your review. Thought I should point something out to you. Your focus on the black ice crashes and the possible moral questions that Ken faced while taping this incident. I thought I would point out that if you look at the tape closely, you'll see that there were police vehicles at both scenes (at the bottom of the ramp and up on the expressway) as well as tow trucks and other safety vehicles.

Many, if not most of the vehicles that slid out of control did so after passing road flares and vehicles with flashing lights... and other crashed vehicles and Illinois State troopers. Had you seen the raw footage, you would know for a great span of time Ken was standing next to a state trooper on the scene. To me this is neither here nor there. I felt the whole moral quandry of whether to act or not was addressed in the Paxton fire segment - at situation where people were dying. The black ice crashes resulted in a few skid outs and some vehicle damage. There was one close call by a guy who sped past - again - flares and flashing lights. And then decided to exit his car on an express way with people acting just the same as he.

Your questions about Ken's internal moral compass and the decisions he makes are valid, however you asked why he wasn't doing something here. He was. He was watching state and city employees do their jobs. I didn't think I had to point that out since their vehicles are prominently featured amongst the footage (again, look for the flares and flashing lights).

Normally I wouldn't bother with something like this, but the issue was such a significant part of your review, I thought it should be addressed.
